Plastic Tree - Dona Dona [Song]

Without the kanji this was kind of balls to translate, but I gave it a shot, and included a kanji version so that those with some Japanese knowledge can see what kanji's I *thought* the hiragana was meant to be. (o_O) Feel free to suggest something better. Also, I did this in about 5 minutes without a dictionary (although it's a fairly simple song, so I didn't really need one...) so there may be corrections added later, but this is the gist of it. (^^;)

I ate the green grass.
And I ate all of the yellow flowers.
I can't see thanks to the red sun,
But let's go somewhere, with my blue heart.

The skies are clear and I'm gazing without ever tiring of it,
But the sky doesn't pay attention to a single thing about me.
Somewhere unknown, some lonely person.
Me who's just like that, Someday let's meet.

In memories   In the drawer of dreams
Changing from this lonely person, what will I sing?

Wavering Wavering
Where shall I go?
Wavering Wavering Wavering
Where shall I go?

Fragile things   Have to be left alone, right?
Being taunted, this lonely person, what will I dance?

Wavering Wavering
Where shall I go?
Wavering Wavering Wavering
Where shall I go?

Being prepared is the lie of a million pens.
But   There's a fragment of truth in all of those stories.
But I wasn't supposed to trespass into those thoughts, huh.***
So let's go in search of a peaceful today.

*** This line sucks. I just can't a decent way to translate it into English and get the essense of the meaning. So this sounds better, but it's not *quite* what he means, I suppose.

Arigatou~
So, this song is kinda like in the view of the cow ain't it.
haha!

And I keep wondering why the first 2 sentences was it eating green grass and yellow flowers.
haha!

Haha, those first two lines confuse me too. But there it is. Ryuutarou's been hanging out with the cows recently. Contemplating his insignificance. (o_O)

Yes ma'am, I shall be. =)

I actually just got internet at my apartment today, and I'm free after the 11th, so I'll be translating the album. (^^)

I love how the first 4 lines all refer to colors *___*

And, that cow thing, it's a reference to the song "Donna Donna" (the calf that is), except this song is written in the about-to-be-slaughtered calf/cow's perspective I guess T_T. So it is related to that song after all! Witty ^^ :

On a waggon bound for market
there`s a calf with a mournful eye.
High above him there`s a swallow,
winging swiftly through the sky.
How the winds are laughing,
they laugh with all their might.
Laugh and laugh the whole day through,
and half the summer`s night.
Donna, Donna, Donna, Donna; Donna, Donna, Donna, Don.
Donna, Donna, Donna, Donna; Donna, Donna, Donna, Don.
"Stop complaining!“ said the farmer,
Who told you a calf to be ?
Why don`t you have wings to fly with,
like the swallow so proud and free?“
Calves are easily bound and slaughtered,
never knowing the reason why.
But whoever treasures freedom,
like the swallow has learned to fly.

Ahh, thank you! I can't believe I didn't realize that.

Except if you think about the fact that the original Donna Donna is metaphorical for a girl being sold (during Nazi Germany, I believe?) it makes the meaning of this song even more complicated. (o_O)

... That English doesn't make sense to me either. xD
But thanks for the input. (^^;)

And thanks for commenting! =)

God people, this isn't a cow's POV! It's obviously Ryutaro's POV, but he's speaking in metaphors. And even so, there's an expression that changes the meaning to simply "i'm with my face on the grass". In a lot of Plastic Tree videos Ryutaro falls to the ground and is with his face on the ground or on the grass. The picture of the "Hello" song is like that.

I don't know if you're talking to me, but I never said it was about a cow.

And the expression 緑色の草は食べてしまったよ definitely does not mean "I'm with my face to the grass."

Hello! (I know this is old but anyway...)
I just wanted to say that used the romaji and your English translation of the song to do this lyric video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xw-KTDpS_eE
(I am not trying to spam or anything, I just think it's good manners to tell someone when you have used their work. If you want the video deleted since it's not my work, then... just tell me >.<)
Brilliant translation, by the way
